New York Law School Increases Network Visibility and Security with Forescout CounterACT

CUPERTINO, Calif.  — April 2, 2013 Forescout Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of real-time network security solutions for Fortune 1000 enterprises and government organizations, today announced that New York Law School (NYLS) has selected CounterACT for endpoint intelligence and policy-based enforcement of the 3,000+ devices connected to its network. With CounterACT now fully implemented, NYLS has nearly eliminated student wireless access complaints, reduced operational risks and significantly decreased support and remediation costs.

NYLS chose Forescout CounterACT network access control (NAC) for its multi-factored, roles-based device authentication and seamless integration with its existing wired and wireless infrastructure. NYLS found CounterACT easy to administer and deploy, while its lightweight agent was trouble-free for its 1,500 students and 200 faculty members. Immediately after deployment, the NYLS IT staff gained full visibility and control of all devices on the network; the means to easily monitor, control, and inventory systems while allowing for flexible enforcement; and the ability to thwart zero-day threats.

“Forescout CounterACT has been a win-win for IT and for our student community,” said Pete Trimarchi, technical director at New York Law School. “The visibility and security CounterACT affords us are huge, as it has reduced our operating costs, cut down the number of calls to our help desk and enabled our technical support team to focus on more challenging and rewarding work. Furthermore, by improving our help desk response times and helping our students and employees operate a more secure endpoint, our overall customer service ratings have improved and continue to move upwards.”

Next, the NYLS team is evaluating the bring your own device (BYOD) trend and will soon institute an executive trial utilizing Forescout MDM, a cloud-based, mobile device lifecycle management solution that complements Forescout network access control capabilities.

Forescout is positioned in the “Leaders” quadrant in the Gartner Inc. 2013 Magic Quadrant for Network Access Control[1], and Frost & Sullivan[2] has acclaimed the company as the largest independent NAC vendor and one that is growing the fastest in the market. The Forescout product portfolio allows IT organizations to gain unified visibility and automated control for all wired and wireless, mobile and PC devices, whether managed or personal.
