Forescout Continues NAC Market Leadership with Record Growth and Market Share Gains

Cupertino, Calif. – July 9, 2010 – Forescout Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of network access control (NAC) for Fortune 1000 enterprises and government organizations, today announced continued record growth and market share gains.

Following on double-digit revenue growth in 2009, Forescout has seen 49% bookings growth in 1H 2010 compared with 1H 2009. This represents an increase in market share against other companies that compete in the NAC market. Market research firm Gartner”estimates that the size of the NAC market in 2009 was approximately $199 million, a decrease of approximately 10% over the market in 2008." Gartner has also stated “for 2010, we expect a flat market, with total revenue of approximately $200 million."*

“In the first half of this year, we saw strong sales growth in all regions and all verticals," said Brant Kennedy, VP of Sales and Marketing for Forescout. “Forescout’s success in tough economic times is because we enable both productivity and security."
Forescout’s continued market leadership is important because the NAC market is moving from niche to mainstream adoption. At Gartner’s recent Security and Risk Management Summit, Gartner analysts highlighted “consumerization" as a driver for continued adoption of NAC. This refers to the trend for employees to bring their own PC to work, as well as iPhones, iPads, and other consumer-type devices.

“Enterprises will need to respond to the consumerization trend," said Lawrence Orans, Research Director at Gartner. “Network access control (NAC) is a good mechanism to control a diverse and chaotic mix of endpoint devices. Without policies that govern network access, users can connect any device to the corporate network, thereby creating a less stable and less secure environment."

One reason why customers are continuing to prefer Forescout CounterACT over other brands of NAC is the fact that Forescout CounterACT is a third-generation solution which is easier to deploy and manage than other solutions. Forescout CounterACT works with or without 802.1X, and this flexibility gives enterprises tremendous speed advantages. A small Forescout CounterACT implementation (1000 nodes) can be done in a single day, and 10,000 nodes can be done just a few days. In contrast, customers who utilize solutions that are tied exclusively to 802.1X typically require months or years to deploy.
