Culpeper County Wins InfoWorld 100 Award for Forescout NAC Implementation
Cupertino, Calif. – December 1, 2009 – Forescout, the market leader in network access control (NAC) for large government and global enterprise deployments, today announced that Culpeper County of Virginia has received IDG’s InfoWorld 100 Award for their implementation of Forescout CounterACT.
Every year, InfoWorld’s editorial staff names 100 companies that have made the best use of technology to enhance their business. The InfoWorld 100 Awards celebrate IT projects that use technology in smart, innovative, creative ways to meet business and technical objectives.
Culpeper County Government is a local county body that supports the government offices for about 43,000 people. Their IT infrastructure is spread across 16 different locations which include a mix of wired and wireless offices. The county government includes 24 different agencies such as the 911 Emergency Center, EMS, Airport and Sheriff’s office. Recognizing the importance of shoring up network vulnerabilities, Culpeper County chose Forescout CounterACT to secure their network and protect critical government agencies from malware, viruses and cyber threats.
Culpeper County chose Forescout CounterACT because it was the only product that could be deployed without the need to upgrade their switches or make major changes to their network infrastructure. Forescout CounterACT plugged into their existing heterogeneous network and began delivering immediate value. This is an important factor in today’s business environment of shrinking IT budgets and limited resources.
“Local government agencies such as ours have been feeling the pressure to advance cyber-security measures. I am proud that a respected technology source such as InfoWorld has recognized the importance of our work through the InfoWorld 100 Awards," said Todd Frazier, Systems Administrator of Culpeper County Government. “Forescout CounterACT has been vital in allowing us to defend against attacks and protect sensitive data."
This year’s recipients of InfoWorld’s highest honor are shining examples of IT projects undertaken by tech leaders committed to pushing their organizations forward,” said Jason Snyder, Features Editor at InfoWorld.
