BRIDGE:BREAK: Exploiting Serial-to-IP Converters in Critical Infrastructure
Serial to IP converters are widely used to connect legacy equipment to modern IP networks across utilities, healthcare, manufacturing, and other critical infrastructure sectors. New research from Forescout Research – Vedere Labs reveals that these “bridge” devices introduce significant security risks due to widespread exposure and insecure firmware design.
In this webinar, Vedere Labs research shares findings from Bridge:Break, including 22 newly discovered vulnerabilities in converters from Lantronix and Silex. Attendees will see real world attack scenarios showing how these weaknesses can enable denial of service, sensor and actuator data tampering, and lateral movement across OT and healthcare environments, mirroring techniques used in documented attacks on national power grids.

What Attendees Will Learn:
- Why serial to Ethernet converters represent a high risk, often overlooked attack surface
- Key vulnerability trends uncovered through firmware and software composition analysis
- How attackers can exploit these devices to disrupt operations or manipulate data
- Practical steps organizations can take to reduce risk and improve detection
