ForeScout Continues Innovation Leadership with Latest Network Access Control Offering

Latest Version of CounterACT Features Advanced Endpoint Security and Remediation Capabilities

CUPERTINO, Calif.—October 1, 2007 —ForeScout Technologies, a leading provider of clientless network access control (NAC) for Fortune 500 enterprises and government organizations, today announced a new release of its flagship NAC product, CounterACT. The new version further expands the access control, endpoint security, scalability and remediation features and further simplifies the CounterACT product family's ability to ease deployment, maintenance and global scalability for both customers and channel partners.

Extending enterprise features and ease-of-use, this new version of CounterACT effectively responds to network security challenges encountered by ForeScout's enterprise customers with an array of new features including a dissolvable client option and a powerful scripting engine for tailored automated remediation. This allows for the ultimate flexibility in achieving enterprise specific remediation of non-compliant systems.

"Controlling network access and ensuring ongoing compliance with our network security policies are paramount for our company," said Bruce Mayrand, senior manager Kawasaki Robotics. "ForeScout's current NAC offering, CounterACT, meets the stringent access control requirements of our organization. They have worked closely with us to identify areas of expanded NAC coverage. We look forward to being able to provide NAC policy enforcement that works with our VoIP systems as well as the expanded enforcement and remediation options in the upcoming release."

Working extensively with both customers and end users, ForeScout has further streamlined ease-of-deployment and use in complex, heterogeneous networks. In addition, CounterACT ensures enterprise flexibility through expanding network integration options to seamlessly integrate NAC policy enforcement into heterogeneous network infrastructures.

"There is clearly a lot of interest in Network Access Control to help customers ensure the right folks access the right resources at the right time. Enterprise-class products are adding additional platform support, client options, scalability characteristics, and customization features," said Mike Rothman, president of Security Incite. "NAC products should fit into the organization's infrastructure, as opposed to having to re-architect the infrastructure for the NAC product."

Feature Highlights:

  • Secure Connector
CounterACT provides the ability to bypass remote connection barriers by automatically initiating an outbound secure socket layer (SSL) connection with the CounterACT appliance. Secure Connector ensures CounterACT is able to conduct a network based in-depth interrogation of guest/contractor devices, and expands the range of transparent remediation options. Secure Connector adds another degree of flexibility for enterprise customers. The client can also be deployed in persistent mode, functioning transparently after the install.

  • Automated Remediation Scripting Engine
CounterACT features an all-new scripting engine, enabling network administrators to write custom scripts, streamlining remediation by leveraging the existing network infrastructure. The custom script engine utilizes CounterACT's remote connection enabling the execution or termination of any process running on the endpoint ensuring enforcement flexibility.

  • Logic-Based Compliance
ForeScout continues to bridge the gap between business requirements and network security rules by introducing an intuitive, logic-based policy creation process that addresses policy violations with a number of remediation options within a single policy. This feature further extends the flexibility of CounterACT's policy engine by enabling policies with enforcement actions that escalate over a defined time frame by properly assessing the severity of a violation.

  • Advanced Device Detection and Interrogation
CounterACT's latest release introduces a set of new features for advanced device detection and policy enforcement capabilities, including protection against ARP spoofing, session-specific policy creation and enforcement, open-port hardening, and network-agnostic surgical blocking. Additionally, CounterACT features extended support for VoIP devices, by identifying endpoints and providing policy enforcement without disrupting VoIP connections and functionality.

"Listening to and working with our customers throughout the deployment processes has provided valuable insight, shaping the features in this release of CounterACT. By understanding customer's needs, ForeScout has been able to deliver a network access control offering that meets the real-world demands of enterprises and organizations worldwide," says T. Kent Elliott, CEO of ForeScout Technologies. "Market demand for NAC is growing dramatically, requiring the ongoing simplification and extension of intuitive operation of NAC products. This release expands CounterACT's ability to solve the unique business and network security challenges of our existing and new customers across all industries without compromising productivity or security requirements."

Pricing and Availability
The newest release of CounterACT is available immediately and pricing starts at $4,995 U.S. MSRP.
