ForeScout CounterACT Receives More Product Review Raves

CounterACT Awarded 5 out of 5 Stars in SC Magazine Policy Management Group Test

CUPERTINO, Calif.—March 29, 2007 —ForeScout Technologies, a provider of clientless network access control (NAC) for Fortune 500 enterprises and government organizations, today announced that SC Magazine has awarded its CounterACT NAC appliance with 5 out of 5 possible stars in its March Policy Management Group Test.

Full Coverage for All Endpoints
The article, written by Justin Peltier, who reviewed each product in the group test, highlights the clientless nature of CounterACT, "which allows for endpoints to be more than workstations, and endpoints can include wireless access points, smart phones and laptops." Peltier also describes CounterACT as being unique in a number of ways. "First, the product appliance is based on, and the policy is enforced through, a network tap configuration. The product is designed to be reading network traffic from a switch span support [which would] allow the device to see all of the data on that network segment."

5 Star Performance
Receiving 5 out of a possible 5 stars, CounterACT is described as "a well-built application that uses the base of an intrusion prevention system" and having "a unique approach to policy management" with the clientless install being an administration saver. "As soon as CounterACT was up and running, we could see that it was working. It immediately and accurately identified and automatically stopped 200 to 300 worm-infected hosts from accessing the network."
