Cupertino, Calif. May 30, 2006 ForeScout Technologies, a leading provider of clientless network access control (NAC) and intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that Louisiana State University (LSU) has deployed CounterACT appliances across its entire campus for network access control and intrusion prevention. CounterACT ensures the highest level of network security and productivity for the university's 30,000 students, 1,200 full time faculty members, and 3,000 staff members.
"LSU prides itself on providing a rich intellectual environment for students and faculty," said Sean Robbins, NIR Director, LSU. "In order to do this, we require a network infrastructure that assures real-time access to data with minimal risk. With a high number of devices on our campus and the ongoing requirement to protect our network from increasingly sophisticated malware, we chose to deploy a NAC solution that provides flexibility to set security policies against internal and external malicious sources. ForeScout's CounterACT appliance offered us both." "ForeScout understands the challenge leading universities face with the need to provide open network access to a transient student population coupled with the need to secure sensitive information assets," said Gord Boyce, global vice president sales and marketing. "LSU's decision to deploy CounterACT further validates the strength of our NAC solution to bridge this balancing act. This is accomplished by delivering a solution that actively detects and blocks self propagating threats as well as keeping unauthorized users from accessing protected network resources." About CounterACT ForeScout's NAC appliance, CounterACT, with its built-in signature-less intrusion prevention engine, protects the network upon device connection from any self-propagating malware and "zero-day" worms, while concurrently enforcing business policies for enterprises by transparently granting access to authorized and compliant users. CounterACT integrates seamlessly into existing networks, offers a full range of measured enforcement options for non-compliant and/or unauthorized users, and enforces security policies for all connected devices without the need for a client/agent on the endpoint. |
