ForeScout Technologies Selected to Present to the United States Department of Homeland Security

WASHINGTON, D.C.—April 10, 2005—ForeScout Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of network-based Intelligent Intrusion Prevention™ security solutions, announced today that it has been selected as premier vendor of self-propagating malware mitigation technology to participate in the Emerging Security Technology Forum sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security.

"One of the goals of the Cyber Security R&D Center is to identify and support emerging security technologies being developed in the private sector. The Emerging Security Technology Forum is our first event that brings vendors and government representatives together to learn about government needs and the technology solutions that may be available to meet those needs," said Douglas Maughan, Cyber Security Program Manager within DHS S&T HSARPA.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate Cyber Security Research and Development Program within the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA) announced that 13 technology vendors have been selected to present information security solutions to government personnel at the DHS/S&T Emerging Security Technology Forum (ESTF) on April 13-14, 2005.

"ForeScout is committed to providing cutting edge technology that has the ability of protecting our nation's critical infrastructure from devastating worm outbreaks," said Kenny Frerichs, president of ForeScout Technologies. With our recent success in the federal sector, we are pleased to have this opportunity to share our story and to understand how we can best support the massive undertaking of securing our most valuable computing resources."

ForeScout's appliances are based on ActiveResponse, a highly accurate and patented methodology of detecting network attacks and espionage without relying upon signatures, any form of anomaly analysis or manual monitoring of network logs. ForeScout's appliances surgically block malicious traffic automatically without effecting legitimate data flows. Currently the technology is the only scalable, customer-validated security solution that has been proven to prevent zero-second malicious attacks from both self-propagating malware and hackers.

About The Emerging Security Technology Forum
The ESTF is an opportunity to introduce government representatives to smaller-sized information security technology vendors whose innovative approaches can help to continually assess and prevent security risks in the nation's critical infrastructure. For this ESTF vendors will present and demonstrate current and emerging information security technologies that defend against DDOS and worm attacks. The audience will include federal, state, and local government technologists, technical managers, and others responsible for incorporating new technologies into critical government infrastructures.

A critical area of focus for the DHS S&T Directorate is the development and deployment of technologies to protect the nation's cyber infrastructure including the Internet and other critical infrastructures that depend on computer systems for their mission.

About ForeScout Technologies, Inc.
ForeScout's clientless network access control (NAC) solutions enable customers to implement and enforce network access policies of both managed and unmanaged devices in both a pre and post connect mode to gain complete control over network security without disrupting end-user productivity. ForeScout's flagship product, CounterACT, combines network access control and signature-less intrusion prevention in a single network appliance that interrogates and enforces controlled access of every device while seamlessly integrating with any existing IT infrastructure. ForeScout's NAC is completely transparent and enables enterprises to tailor enforcement to match the exact level of each policy violation, eliminating disruptions during device interrogation.
