Continuous monitoring (CM) is an important first step in a process of continuous improvement that leads to a reduced attack surface. That’s the conclusion of researchers after surveying nearly 300 security professionals from July to September 2016. The respondents are actively involved in vulnerability assessment and remediation and represent organizations worldwide. In total, 63% of them believed that CM was improving their security posture.
By aggregating responses, SANS analysts were able to:
- Assess the current state of remediation
- Offer recommendations for building an effective CM program
- Suggest ways to put improvement into action
