Description
Forescout has determined that customers who attempt to upgrade to v8.1.x in a distributed environment (Enterprise Manager with managed appliances) may experience an issue with the managed appliance’s EM connection status being in a defunct “Synchronizing Configuration” state after the completion of the upgrade.
Background
Managed appliances that are connected to an Enterprise Manager and are upgraded from version 7.0.0 or 8.0.x to version 8.1.x may experience the synchronization configuration issue after executing the command, “fstool service status.”
Details
Forescout has determined that the following features are affected in relation to this issue:
- When executing the Virtual Firewall action, the action may display a failed status with the following error, “cannot run by any appliance” even though the action executed successfully.
- The CounterACT legacy HTTP customization web pages are removed and the following HTTP actions and web pages are affected: Start SecureConnector action, HTTP Notification action, HTTP Login action, HTTP Redirection to URL action, SecureConnector download URL link (http://< Appliance_IP>/sc) web page, and Compliance Center web page.
Root Cause
After upgrade to v8.1.x, the customization directory does not get forwarded to the EM and therefore the managed appliance’s synchronization process finishes with an error and does not complete.
