How Frameworks and FAIR complement each other: two great webinars.

Luke Bader, Director, Memberships and Programs | August 6, 2019

From time to time, we come across some interesting FAIR related thoughts being shared by our partners. Last week, a fascinating webinar was hosted by Institute Technical Advisor, RiskLens, that included presentations from two FAIR Institute members, Ian Amit, Chief Security Officer at Cimpress, and Chip Block, Vice President and Chief Solutions Architect at Converged Security Solutions.

The webinar is one you will want to take the time to listen to, as it includes many interesting insights into the marriage of NIST-CSF guidelines and the Factor Analysis of Information Risk (FAIR) standard. Leading thinkers at Fortune 1,000 organizations are driving better decision-making related to people, process and technology investments as a result of this combination.

The Institute is working closely with NIST to bring the CSF and FAIR together formally to benefit the private and public sectors. Stay tuned for more detail on this as time evolves. There will also be a session at the 2019 FAIR Conference titled “Building a Cybersecurity Program with a Risk Management Framework & FAIR” that will feature a panel of standard and framework leaders to discuss the importance of using frameworks, including the CSF, and FAIR together.

Listen and watch webinar today, attend FAIRCON19, and stay tuned for more groundbreaking announcements, to and find out how you can join them!

The FAIR Institute and Forescout are also pleased to host a frank discussion with two experienced executives in the risk and information security industry who not only run these organizations, but also evangelize the importance of prioritizing risk from third-party and other sources.

They will provide insight on:

  1. Top risks and exposure, especially from the convergence of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) infrastructures.
  2. How frameworks like NIST RMF and CSF play a role in establishing good risk hygiene.
  3. Actionable playbook to consider when creating and presenting a risk plan to the CEO and board.
