Cupertino, Calif.November 6, 2007ForeScout Technologies, a leading provider of clientless network access control (NAC) for Fortune 500 enterprises and government organizations, today announced it has expanded the integration capabilities of its NAC appliance, CounterACT, to seamlessly work with Nortel and Juniper virtual private network (VPN) products. This integration further extends the network access control and endpoint security functionality to mobile and remote end-users connected over Juniper or Nortel VPN, to ensure that all devices outside of the enterprise LAN are in compliance with corporate network security policies.
When deployed to monitor VPN connections, CounterACT ensures that all connecting devices are subject to the same network security policies and granular enforcement options as the devices connected to the local corporate network. CounterACT detects and inspects every endpoint, regardless of whether the user is connecting with a company-issued device or personal home computer, and ensures compliance with all security requirements before allowing access. Additionally, CounterACT interrogates every device for self-propagating malware infections, protecting the enterprise network from an outbreak. "The integration of NAC and VPN products is an essential path to more powerful and more easily deployed security solutions," said Dana Hendrickson, security business analyst and publisher of the Secure Access Central portal. "Remote users present universal network security concerns for organizations of all kinds. Their computers are often used for both professional and personal purposes - a situation that aids the propagation of malicious code and the expanding use of wireless networks makes VPN protection essential. Organizations clearly welcome vendor moves to simplify the integration of these key security layers." "Enterprises are rapidly embracing the shift to a mobile workforce and telecommuting," said Ray Wizbowski, vice president of marketing for ForeScout Technologies. "While this transition is good for business, it puts added pressure on network security professionals to ensure remote access is secure and does not introduce additional threats to the network. VPN is a fundamental component of any network infrastructure for providing secure connections for remote users. In order to provide our customer with the greatest amount of flexibility, ForeScout is committed to delivering an easy-to-deploy NAC solution that seamlessly integrates with heterogeneous enterprise network environments, and adding Juniper and Nortel VPN to our list of integrations further extends the flexibility and adds to the leadership position of our NAC product." |
