The Schwan Food Company Selects Forescout to Freeze Out Network Security Threats

CUPERTINO, Calif. — May 10, 2005 —ForeScout Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of network-based Intelligent Intrusion Prevention™ security solutions, announced today that The Schwan Food Company, one of the largest branded frozen food companies in the United States, has deployed ForeScout's network security appliances ActiveScout and CounterACT to protect against hackers and self-propagating malware.

"The ForeScout deployment, in addition to our existing security measures, demonstrates how seriously The Schwan Food Company is about securing our computing infrastructure," said Cory Miller, Distribution System Group Manager of The Schwan Food Company. "We selected ForeScout based upon the unique value of being able to automatically detect unknown threats without the need for updates. This additional defense layer complements our overall security efforts and gives us confidence we are protected from hackers and worm outbreaks."

"We are pleased to be a part of The Schwan Foods Company's security measures, providing enterprise network protection against self-propagating malware and hackers," said Kenny Frerichs, president of ForeScout Technologies. "With 100 percent of our customers using the appliances in auto-block mode, we are confident our technology will help ensure Schwan's network operation. ForeScout prides itself on being able to help our customers effectively mitigate any current or future self-propagating threats supporting their existing business continuity efforts."

ForeScout's appliances are based on ActiveResponse, a highly accurate and patented methodology of detecting network attacks and espionage without relying upon signatures, any form of anomaly analysis or manual monitoring of network logs. ForeScout's appliances surgically block malicious traffic automatically without effecting legitimate data flows. Currently the technology is the only scalable, customer-validated security solution that has been proven to prevent zero-second malicious attacks from both self-propagating malware and hackers.
