ForeScout Announces A New Integrated Security Appliance Product Range with ActiveScout and CounterACT at CeBIT

Accurate Containment of Threats Network (ACTNet) Detects and Protects Against Malicious Sources on the Internet

Bad Homburg,—March 7, 2005—ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced today the release of an Integrated Security Appliance product range for Europe, offering intelligent security solutions that protect computer networks from external attack. The new appliance range has versions for large enterprises with high-bandwidth, high-capacity networking environments as well those with lower throughputs.

The ActiveScout appliance instantly stops threats from breaching the perimeter of an organization by identifying malicious sources and blocking them at source. The CounterACT1000E - Blade, CounterACT1000E and CounterACT100E appliances - block intrusion threat from worms and hackers on the internal network of an organisation, before they can have any detrimental impact on an organization.

The ActiveScout appliance actively protects networks from external attacks. The Scout appliances are products positioned outside firewalls and actively monitor Internet traffic for signs of pre-attack activity. The Scout is responsible for accurately identifying attackers, "marking" them as potential threats and automatically blocking any attempt they make to return. Multiple Scouts are deployed in the Enterprise solution to protect the network's distributed access points.

The CounterACT appliance range offers pre-emptive protection against known and unknown threats, preserving network uptime, improving productivity and preventing security breaches. Despite worm infections and hacker attacks increasing exponentially, the CounterACT appliance automatically identifies and eliminates all known and unknown threats. The need to block all potential attacks and reduce the strain on IT teams is paramount in all enterprises. "CounterACT and ActiveScout, both based on ForeScout's patented Active Response Technology, are giving IT departments both peace of mind and the time to do their jobs," says Rainer M. Richter, Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa at ForeScout Technologies.

The CounterACT appliance products from ForeScout Technologies are simple to deploy with flexible modes of operation. CounterACT network security appliances offer Intelligent Intrusion Prevention™ by detecting and blocking self-replicating automatic threats and malicious human attacks. The CounterACT appliances employ a unique methodology, a patented ActiveResponse technology that is 100 percent automatic. It does not rely on signatures; therefore no prior knowledge of the attack is required, enabling CounterACT appliances to stop "zero day" threats.

CounterACT appliances can dynamically integrate with most networks based elements (firewalls, switches, routers, VPN concentrators, etc.) to provide actionable "proven threat" data, making these static devices a dynamic security element. These appliances help organizations to preserve network uptime, improve productivity and prevent security breaches.

"Customers across Europe can now deploy appliance based products and have the benefit of instantaneous protection from both known and known threats with 100% accuracy at minimal cost," said Kent Elliott CEO, ForeScout Technologies.
