ForeScout Helps Information Architects Corporation Block Communication from Infected Client

Patented Worm Protection Prevents Widespread Damage

SAN MATEO, Calif.—November 3, 2003—ForeScout Technologies, Inc. announced today another success story from a customer that blocked infection from a malicious worm. Information Architects Corporation (NASDAQ: IACH), a premier provider of Web-based employee screening services, effectively blocked worm attacks coming unwittingly from one of its Fortune 500 customers. Mass-spreading worms, which can remain undetected in systems for months after their original debut, have caused massive damage and network downtime over the last several months.

"When one of our customers complained about being restricted from our network, we checked our ForeScout logs and found that some of their staff was infected by the Slammer worm, so they were automatically blocked," said Gerald Smith, CTO of Information Architects. "The problem was immediately identified and fixed. We were able to let them back into our network with confidence, while they made sure the worm was completely eliminated to prevent it from spreading to other systems."

ForeScout's patented technology stops both known and zero-day worm infections from proliferating through networks, including those that try to enter through remote and mobile connections as well as through the perimeter. By accurately identifying and blocking attacks at the source, ForeScout allows companies to be confident that worms and other threats will be stopped automatically from spreading, without requiring constant monitoring, signatures or updates.

Information Architects, which searches and reviews criminal, civil court, motor vehicle and credit bureau records as well as other background materials, makes information security a top priority to maintain its market leadership. "Offering Web-based services, we take the use and protection of information very seriously, so we are glad to have companies like ForeScout helping to secure our systems," Smith continued.

"The spread of worms and other malicious attacks has tremendous business implications beyond simply data theft and network downtime," said Kent Elliot, CEO of ForeScout. "As we look at issues of regulatory compliance and corporate liability, there are increasing concerns regarding how worms are spread through different avenues. ForeScout has taken leadership in this area with technology that shuts down the spread of worms at any point on the network. This is a logical approach to a very serious problem that continues to plague global businesses."
